Blender

We shared the joy of this completely free, crowd-sourced 3D creation suite in our last blog post, so where better to begin than some tutorials that will start your journey into another dimension of design.

3D Donut Tutorial by Blender Guru

Blender Guru, aka Andrew Price, is on a mission to teach the world to 3D for free! With over 2.5million subscribers, Andrew’s tutorials are broken down into easy-to-digest chunks. And, one of his most iconic tutorials is Homer’s favourite = the donut. A great way to learn not only how to make a delicious looking donut, but modelling, sculpting, hot keys and texture painting, to name a few. Make sure you check out the comments section for even more helpful tips from other subscribers.

3D Lava Lamp by Polygon Runway

Roman Klčo, from Bratislava, Slovakia, is a designer and 3D illustrator with a strong passion for learning and creating. He shares his journey with others by teaching on Polygon Runway channels. He also has more in-depth paid for 3D courses at polygonrunway.com With this tutorial you’ll learn all about modelling, textures, particle settings and movement. Another great one for beginners and intermediates in Blender.

Blender Absolute Basics by Cross Mind Studio

This Absolute Basics tutorial from Cross Minds Studio, sitting at just over an hour long, is a fantastic starting point to get to grips with the workspace, tooling, viewports and the rest of the fundamentals.


Adobe Photoshop

One of the best things about Adobe's software, is the vast collection of online tutorials available for it. With more and more competitors popping up in the realm of image editing software, the guarantees that there will always be a tutorial out there to guide you through whatever you need to do is reassuring.

Photoshop 2023 New Features by Photoshop Training Channel

Starting in 2012, the Photoshop Training Channel started as a free resource for beginners covering everything from photo retouching and manipulation, to text effects and much more. With Photoshop’s abilities, there are a million ways to do anything. Their goal is to show you how to do things in a way that is both efficient and easy to understand. This specific video focuses on the new features, giving a thorough rundown in a digestible way, but do check out their channel for loads of other great tutorials.

Change the Colour of an Object by Adobe

Of course Adobe have their own hub of tutorials! Lots of easy-to-follow mini courses with their own working files to download, ranging from beginner level to more experienced. This tutorial is a great one for working on mock-ups and products that have many different colour options.

Transform Your Photos with Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop by Udemy

Udemy is the biggest online learning platform offering over 200k+ affordable online courses where users can learn new skills or improve existing ones. There’s 10,000 courses in the design category, ranging from completely free (around 3,000 of them) to paid for, either by subscription or one off per course. This particular free course helps you prep RAW files in Lightroom, how to dodge and burn and how to colour grade plus lots more.


Adobe Illustrator

Another Adobe legend that is forever updating with new tip and tricks up its vector sleeve. There are tutorials that cover everything from the very basics to the advanced techniques and the new features in Illustrator 2023 out there, whether you’re a seasoned designer or just starting out, there’s always something new to get to grips with.

Text Effect Tutorial Playlist by Creatnprocess

Creatnprocess have a great selection of training in all the main Adobe products (Photoshop, After Effects and Illustrator). with simple, easy to follow videos breaking down styles and techniques. This playlist has 35 different tutorials within it, from wave text effects, blend tool effects, stepped text to neon blur, the tutorials give you the knowledge to go on and create your own effects.

Adobe Illustrator Tips & Tricks Playlist by Satori Graphics

Another playlist here with a fantastic selection of Illustrator tips and tricks for every knowledge level. Satori Graphics is the brainchild of Tom Cargill, a London-based designer who specialises in logo design and brand identity. He brings not only technical tips and tricks but also has some great videos on more overarching parts of creativity, like advanced colour theory, visual hierarchy and design principles.

Adam the Illustrator TikTok Channel

We love the growing number of graphic designers and illustrators sharing their bitesized tips and tricks on TikTok, it still feels like an untapped source of education for designers at every level. Adam the Illustrator’s videos cover everything from how to draw cute poster designs to tips for getting your designs onto merch. Based in Toronto, Adam specialises in lively, colourful aesthetics that incorporate a playful sense of humour.


Adobe After Effects

Not going to lie, After Effects tutorials are the most Googled in the No*Changes history tab! There are always so many ways to get to the same end point, so it’s always good to see if there’s an easy, quicker way out there. Even if you’re not wanting to go head first into the motion design world, as a graphic designer, it’s super beneficial to have the knowledge of how to do the basics.

Beginners Guide to Design & Motion by School of Motion

School of Motion have a fantastic selection of free and paid for courses and was a staple in our own journey into the world of After Effects. They cover everything from the foundation of design, 2D and 3D animation, free to register, you can learn from free content, enrol in paid for courses and take advantage of the community of artists learning and sharing their knowledge as well.

10 Quick After Effects Techniques by Ben Marriot

We can’t talk about After Effects tutorials without visiting the genius that is Ben Marriot. Based in Sydney, Ben is a natural teacher, calmly and clearly making even the most demanding AE tutorials easy to follow. This video touches on texture shading, fading, gradients, jitter and eyes! We urge you all to subscribe to Ben’s Youtube channel, you won’t regret it.

Realistic Rain Effect by ActionVFX

After Effects of course isn’t just for motion graphics, it has some really powerful VFX abilities and this tutorial by ActionVFX shows you how to composite rain on a night scene in Adobe After Effects. Using their own stock footage collections, as well as briefly looking into tracking with Mocha and the Puppet Pin Tool.
